Nigerian Breweries Plc has restated its commitment to strengthening customer capacity and supporting sustainable business growth through entrepreneurial training initiatives.

The managing director, Thibaut Boidin, gave the assurance in Lagos recently during the closing ceremony of the company’s Empowerment to Drive Growth and Excellence (EDGE) 2025 programme.

The initiative, which began in July in Awka, trained 360 retail outlets and sub-distributors across 12 regions on business management, digital tools, and operational efficiency.

Boidin said the programme was developed in response to feedback from the company’s Voice of Customer engagements, which revealed challenges among retailers in financial management, operational sustainability, and customer retention.

He said the training provided participants with practical skills, digital inventory applications and post-training consultancy support aimed at reducing losses and improving business viability.

“In the past year, many retail and sub-distributor outlets have shut down due to economic pressures. Our customers made it clear that they needed stronger support, and EDGE was our response. When our customers grow, we grow,” he said.

The programme’s facilitator and Chief Executive Officer of Tom Associates, Temitope Jegede, said participants were trained in financial literacy, customer-service optimisation, operational efficiency and staff development.

According to him, the interactive sessions enabled participants to identify gaps in their operations and adopt more effective approaches to record-keeping, inventory management and customer engagement.
Participants described the training as transformative, noting that it exposed long-standing errors in bookkeeping, customer handling and stock control.

Beneficiaries including Awesu Ahmed and Juliet Nwafor said the modules and digital tools introduced during the programme would significantly improve their business monitoring and daily operations.
The event ended with the presentation of certificates to the participants.
