The secretary to the government of the federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, has been honoured at the 21st anniversary celebrations of Security Waves Magazine and African Waves Magazine.
The event, held in Abuja, recognised achievers in various fields, including seasoned professionals, administrators, leaders, government functionaries, and politicians, for their contributions to national development.
The convener and founder, “The Waves Publishers,” Hon. Gideon Ukpabi Ikechukwu, in his welcome address emphasised the importance of recognizing and celebrating individuals, who have made significant impacts in their chosen careers.
Akume, represented by his special adviser on Public Affairs, Terrence Kuanum, acknowledged the efforts of African Waves Magazine in promoting excellence and recognising outstanding achievements.
He stressed the crucial role of media networks in shaping public opinion and influencing the distribution of information, saying the media plays a vital role in promoting Nigeria’s image and making its citizens attractive to the world.
Also, the director general of National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mallam Lanre Isah-Onilu, represented by the director, Reform Coordination and Services, improvement Department, NOA, Mr. John Bala Asate, announced the launch of a nationwide campaign to disseminate information on federal government initiatives aimed at improving citizens lives.
“The initiative, aligned with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’ aims to address Nigeria’s economic and social challenges through collaboration with over 200 radio and television stations across the country,” he said.
