Firm, Payment System To Strengthen Africa’s Cross-border Payments Network

Seamfix has announced a partnership with the Pan-African Payment and Settlement System (PAPSS), operated by Afreximbank, to strengthen compliance infrastructure supporting real-time cross-border payments across Africa.

According to both organisations, the partnership will support PAPSS’s efforts to expand participation in its settlement system and respond to rising transaction volumes that require enhanced visibility around identity-linked payments.

Group CEO of Seamfix, Chimezie Emewulu, said the initiative will strengthen trust in Africa’s fast-moving payment ecosystem, noting that the platform “helps banks and regulators see what they need to see at the moment they need to see it, without slowing the transaction.”

He said, “PGATE leverages Seamfix’s Fixiam identity engine to link customer identities across institutions and detect fragmented transactions. It provides pre-transaction screening, quota governance, consent management and post-settlement audit trails for regulators.

The partnership also aligns with broader efforts to simplify payments under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), reducing delays and the need for complex currency conversions. Seamfix and PAPSS will begin joint stakeholder engagements ahead of a planned proof-of-concept with selected central banks and commercial banks.”

Seamfix was founded by Chimezie Emewulu and Chibuzor Onwurah to use technology to expand access to identity and essential services across the continent.
