…As Gombe L-PRES Engages Technical Consultants for System Design
Acting on the directive of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, the Gombe State L-PRES has hosted water-supply consultants tasked with designing a full water system for the state’s Agro-Livestock Development Zone, one of the administration’s flagship economic transformation projects.
The zone, which spans over 180 hectares, accommodates several major facilities currently under development, including the Ultramodern Abattoir, State-of-the-Art International Livestock Market, Tannery/Leather Factory, International Grains Market, Timber Market, Inland Dry Port, and other critical agricultural and industrial facilities.
The consultants are acting on the directive of Inuwa Yahaya, who mandated the immediate provision of basic infrastructure necessary to ensure the zone begins operations with full functionality.
The consulting team held technical engagement sessions with key Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), including: Office of the State Surveyor-General, Ministry of Water Resources, Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry, Ministry of Environment among others.
The engagements were aimed at ensuring inter-ministerial synergy and harmonization of technical data, surveys, and requirements for the water supply system.
Speaking during the engagement, the State Project Coordinator of Gombe L-PRES, Professor Usman Bello Abubakar, commended Governor Inuwa Yahaya for his commitment to ensuring the historic economic zone takes shape with all essential amenities provided.
“This is sheer proactiveness and the complete commitment of a true leader who has his people at the centre,” he said.
Prof. Abubakar gave the consulting team a detailed briefing on all major components of the Agro-Livestock Development Zone, including their locations, functional descriptions, and spatial interconnections.
He emphasized the importance of uninterrupted water supply for the abattoir, livestock market, processing facilities, and other industrial operations that will drive the state’s livestock and food systems economy.
The consultants, accompanied by L-PRES technical staff, conducted an extensive tour of the entire zone, taking measurements, mapping water-reticulation routes, and carrying out other preliminary engineering assessments required for the development of the water-supply masterplan.
They confirmed that their technical findings and recommendations will be compiled and submitted to Governor Inuwa Yahaya for consideration and final approval.
When completed, the water supply system will provide adequate, reliable, and sustainable water to all facilities within the Agro-Livestock Development Zone which will be vital to driving overall economic growth for Gombe State and the wider region.
