Residents of Apo Bridge interchange in Garki District have accused a company operating a park and garden in the area of noise pollution and constituting a public nuisance.

In a letter from their solicitors, Ejike Ugwu & Associates, to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) minister, Chief Nyesom Wike, dated 19th November, 2025, the residents were represented by Chief. Obidi Ume alleged that the company, Palm D’or Parks and Garden, has refused to moderate its sound system and use the area designated as a transport corridor in the original Abuja Master Plan as Plot 2324.

They said in 2021, the Abuja Environment and Protection Board (AEPB) intervened in the matter, and a series of meetings were held with the FCT Development Control Department regarding the noise pollution caused by the firm, which remains unresolved to date.

“It is unfortunate that despite being suffered by the residents, the AEPB, FCT Development Control Department and the Parks and Recreation Department have continued to shield Palm D’or, thereby emboldening the company to continue with its activities.

“The Palm D’or has consciously refused to moderate its sound system, having full knowledge that residential houses surround the area of its operations, and that the plot it occupies is strictly a transport corridor in the Abuja Master Plan,” the residents said.

They, therefore, appealed to the FCT minister to investigate their allegations and use his good offices to make the firm comply with the law and guidelines in the sector.
