“The major thing is the irregularity of the prices of materials. Now you may agree for 10 million era houses, and before the end of the year, we find ourselves that the price of, let’s say, cement, for example.

“Cement was 2,000 before, and now it’s around N10,000 naira. So, it has affected us as developers significantly. So economic stability, that’s what we need. And that will give more strength to work as real estate experts,” he said.

Nigeria’s housing deficit currently stands at about 28 million units with expectation to cut down by 10 million in 10 years through public-private partnership.

Also speaking, the member representing Irepo, Orelope and Olorunsogo federal constituency of Oyo state in the 10th National Assembly, Prince Lateef Mohammed, joined stakeholders, urging the Federal Government not to relent in its efforts to reduce the current housing deficit in the Federal Capital Territory and the country at large.

‎‎Hon. Lateef enjoined the government to intensify efforts in the delivery of housing under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration as well as creating an enabling environment for developers to deliver affordable housing.

‎”The government cannot do it alone. This is one way we can achieve this. You know, if you say we are waiting for the government, it will be complicated. This is a partnership. And if we have many credible developers like this, we’ll catch up very soon. But we need credible developers like Jejeola.”
