The Ministry of Police Affairs has launched the Galaxy Backbone Enterprise Content Management (ECM) platform, a new platform designed to facilitate the transition from traditional paperwork to a modern, secure, and streamlined digital environment.
The platform marked a significant step in the ministry’s digital transformation journey and transition to a paperless operation.
The initiative aligns with the Head of Service’s vision to digitise the entire federal civil service system by December 31, 2025.
The ECM platform aims to replace traditional paperwork with a modern, secure digital environment, enhancing governance, transparency, and operational efficiency.
Speaking at the launch, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Dr Ogbonnaya Anuma Nlia, described the ECM as a significant step towards the ministry’s collective journey towards digital transformation, improved governance and strengthened institutional efficiency.
“This is not merely articulating technological tools but the beginning of a new culture, one engineered by accountability, transparency, institutional memory and operational excellence”, he stated.
Nlia praised the ECM’s ability to manage official records, track workflow processes, safeguard sensitive documents and enhance service delivery across all departments.
He further commended the Galaxy Backbone team for their technical partnership, continuous support and commitment to ensuring a seamless deployment of the ECM across the ministry.
Also speaking at the event, the Group Head of Research and Digital Development at Galaxy Backbone, Mr Akintayo Bamidele, stated that the department and the ministry as a whole were making history with this shift.
He described the development as a significant shift in how government operations are conducted and how public services are delivered.
The platform features a comprehensive interface with tools, including Gov CMS for workflow management, Gov Email for correspondence, Gov Conference for meetings and Gov Drive for file storage.
