Youths In Diaspora Set To Mark 7th Anniversary In Lagos

Youths in Diaspora (YID), a pan-African youth development organisation, is set to mark its 7th Anniversary on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, with a high-level policy and stakeholder engagement in Lagos State, reinforcing its commitment to youth empowerment and access to education access through diaspora-led nation building.

The anniversary event, themed “Youth, Education and Nation Building: A Pathway to National Economic Transformation,” will convene government officials, education leaders, private sector stakeholders, diaspora partners, youth advocates and the media to reflect on seven years of impact and chart a strategic path for the future.

During the engagement, YID will spotlight its sustained contributions to youth development, education access and teacher employment, while facilitating critical conversations on education as the foundation for economic growth and social stability in Nigeria.

The programme will feature an Opening Keynote by the Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Lagos State, Hon. Mobolaji Ogunlende, alongside a robust panel discussion on ‘Youth, Education and Nation Building’, bringing together leading voices from the education and youth development ecosystem to share insights on policy reform, partnerships and scalable solutions.

Highlights of the anniversary will include the public unveiling of Youth in Diaspora’s “Decade of Deployment (2026–2035)”, a ten-year strategy aimed at large-scale teacher employment, expanded education access and youth empowerment, starting from Lagos State. Under this roadmap, the organisation targets the deployment of thousands of teachers over the next decade to address learning gaps and youth unemployment.

Founder and Head of Vision, Arthur C. Amadi, noted that the organisation’s mission goes beyond remittances, positioning the African diaspora as a strategic partner in policy, investment and sustainable nation building.

With an expected attendance of 100–150 selected stakeholders, the anniversary is designed as a high-impact, policy-relevant convening focused on influence, partnerships and measurable outcomes.

Founded in 2018, Youth in Diaspora operates across Nigeria, Canada and the United States, mobilising diaspora resources and expertise to strengthen education systems, expand teacher employment, develop leadership capacity and empower young people across Africa.
