The Police Command in Taraba State has reassured residents of the state of its readiness to ensure the safety of lives and property throughout the yuletide season.

The State Police Command also announced a total ban on the sale, distribution and use of firecrackers and fireworks across the state.

In a press statement issued to LEADERSHIP on Monday, and signed by the Acting Police Public Relations Officer (Ag. According to the statement, the Police Command has intensified patrols, strengthened intelligence gathering and deployed officers strategically to key locations, including markets, places of worship and major highways, to prevent criminal activities during the festive period.

The Command noted that the security arrangements were in line with the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, and involved the full mobilisation of all available operational resources.

“Residents are advised to remain vigilant, avoid unnecessary night travels and refrain from organising large gatherings without prior police approval.

“As part of efforts to maintain public order, the Police announced an immediate and total ban on firecrackers, popularly known as knockouts, throughout Taraba State for the duration of the festive season.

“The ban is aimed at preventing fire outbreaks, reducing noise disturbances and stopping criminal elements from exploiting firecrackers to cause panic or breach public security,” he stated.

It, however, warned that anyone caught will be arrested and prosecuted accordingly.
