The Chairman of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, has released details of how the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), Farouk Ahmed, allegedly spent $5 million on the secondary school education of his children in Switzerland.

In a paid newspaper advert on Tuesday, the billionaire claimed that Ahmed spent the amount on four of his children over a period of six years.

Dangote described the expenditure as “economic sabotage and corruption.”

The Nigerian Billionaire founder of Dangote Refinery also named the children as Faisal Farouk, Farouk Jr., Ashraf Farouk, and Farhana Farouk, who he disclosed to have attended Montreux School, Aiglon College, Institut Le Rosey, and La Garenne International School.

According to Dangote, the annual cost of tuition, living expenses, and airfare per child was approximately $200,000, totalling $800,000 per year for all four children.

Over the course of six years, he said, the combined cost of living expenses and travel for each child reached $1.2 million, totalling $4.8 million for all four children.

Overall, Dangote estimated that tuition and upkeep for all four children totalled around $5 million.

He also provided figures for their tertiary education, stating that tuition, upkeep, airfare, and other costs averaged $125,000 per year over four years, totalling $2 million for all of them.

Dangote further alleged that Faisal Farouk completed his 2025 Harvard MBA for a total of $210,000, comprising $150,000 for tuition and $60,000 for upkeep, airfare, and other incidentals.

The billionaire argued that Nigerians deserve to know the source of the funds spent by a public officer, especially while many parents in Ahmed’s home state of Sokoto cannot afford to pay even N10,000 in school fees for their children.
