The Emir of Ilorin, Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, has described the late former chief justice of Nigeria, (CJN), Justice Ibrahim Tanko, as an incorruptible judge.

In a condolence message signed by his press secretary, Dr Abdulazeez Arowona, the monarch said Muhammad served Nigeria diligently before his voluntary resignation as the 18th CJN and retirement from judicial service.

Sulu-Gambari said, “The late Justice Tanko worked with me at the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, before my enthronement as the 11th Emir of Ilorin in 1995, and I have held him in very high esteem since then due to his commitment to work and love for our dear nation.

“His Lordship, Hon. Justice Ibrahim Tanko Muhammad, was a dedicated jurist who tried his best by being upright at work and a mentor to many young lawyers and judges.

“I honour his tireless dedication to the rule of law and the improvement of the Nigerian judiciary, values for which he will always be remembered. His professional achievements and unwavering commitment to justice have had a lasting impact on Nigeria’s legal system,” he said.
