The Idris HK Foundation has commissioned 11 additional community projects across Idah and Igalamela Local Government Areas of Kogi State, expanding access to water and power infrastructure.
The projects include boreholes in Imere, Amaka and Ajaka towns, three additional boreholes in Idah, a transformer, and solar power installations at the General Hospital and the Daughters of Charity facility in Idah.
Speaking at the handover ceremony on Sunday, the founder, Idris Kashim Hussein, said his interventions were driven by the belief that personal wealth had little value amid widespread poverty in his home region.
Represented by Theophilus Omale, Idris said providing essentials such as water, electricity, roads and food gave him fulfilment, adding that his resources were divine blessings meant for communal upliftment.
He dismissed suggestions of political motives, recalling that he donated a transformer as far back as 2014, long before harbouring any political ambition.
Idris said any future political engagement would be solely to mobilise larger resources for capital-intensive projects beyond private capacity.
Meanwhile, the foundation recently extended its outreach to Dekina Local Government Area, where Idris toured communities to commission completed projects and flag off new ones.
At Emewe Opada, prayers led by the Chief Imam, Bashiru Amodu, marked the commissioning of an erosion control project that restored access to the state capital after months of isolation caused by gully erosion.
The intervention, which Idris reportedly funded personally, was executed after he learnt of the community’s plight.
Community leaders also lauded the foundation for paying the school fees of 315 students at Ofoji Community Secondary School, describing the gesture as a major relief to parents.
The school principal, Yahaya Ocheni, alongside student representatives, presented an award of honour to the foundation, citing renewed enthusiasm for learning.
Idris thanked Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo and the Dekina Local Government Chairman, John Urah, pledging continued collaboration to complement government efforts.
Traditional rulers, youth leaders and residents praised the foundation’s rapid-response approach, describing it as a model for grassroots development in Kogi East.
