US Strike: Tambuwal Visits Jabo Community

Former Sokoto State governor and senator representing Sokoto South Senatorial District, Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has visited Jabo town to identify with residents following the airstrike incident involving joint US and Nigerian military operations on Thursday, December 25, 2025.

The visit came amid grief and anxiety in the community after the bombardment, which was part of an anti-terror operation targeting criminal elements in the wider border area of Sokoto state.

Tambuwal clarified that Jabo town was not the intended target of the military operation, explaining that the strike was meant to hit a Lakurawa terrorist camp located deep inside the Gongono forest in Tangaza local government area.

He described the incident as unfortunate, noting that innocent communities should never bear the cost of the fight against terrorism.

Ads by Tambuwal offered prayers for the victims and the entire community, asking God to grant the deceased eternal rest and to protect the area from similar occurrences in the future. Terrorists are enemies of us all. reaffirmed his commitment to supporting government at all levels in the ongoing fight against terrorism, banditry, and other forms of violent crime across the country.

According to Tambuwal, “defeating insecurity requires coordinated national effort, intelligence-driven operations, and the cooperation of citizens with security agencies.

“Nigeria needs peace, unity, and cooperation from all sections of the country if we are to free our nation from the grip of criminal elements who seek to hold citizens to ransom,” Tambuwal stated.

He added that while security operations are necessary, care must always be taken to protect civilian lives and rebuild trust between communities and the state.

The senator commended the District Head of Jabo, Alhaji Garba Aliyu Jabo II (Sarkin Burmin Jabo), for his leadership, calm guidance, and commitment to peace during the difficult moment.

Responding, the District Head of Jabo, Alhaji Garba Aliyu Jabo II, expressed gratitude to Senator Tambuwal for personally identifying with the people of Jabo and neighbouring villages at a time of fear and sorrow.

He also thanked the Sokoto State Government, the Federal Government, and Nigerians nationwide for their concern and solidarity, noting that such support strengthens community resilience and hope in the face of tragedy.
