President Bola Tinubu and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen, have praised Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani for his courage, inclusive governance, and commitment to democratic ideals as he marks his 55th birthday on December 31.
In a tribute personally signed by him on Tuesday, the President described Governor Sani as a younger brother and a friend in Nigeria’s pro-democracy struggle, noting that his life and public service offer enduring lessons, particularly for younger generations.
Tinubu recalled that as a young man, Uba Sani identified the pursuit of a free and egalitarian society as his life’s purpose, stressing that the struggle for democracy was undertaken not for personal gain but for the betterment of humanity and the freedom of the people.
According to the President, Governor Sani belongs to a rare generation of leaders whose journey to power was rooted in sacrifice and principle. He noted that as a student leader and pro-democracy activist during the period of military rule, Sani stood firmly for justice, freedom and national unity, choosing conviction at a time when fear and silence were widespread.
Tinubu said that since assuming positions of authority, the governor has not abandoned his history of struggle, but has allowed it to mature into statesmanship marked by humility, empathy and resolve.
Reflecting on his legislative career, the President said that as a Senator in the 9th National Assembly, Uba Sani distinguished himself as a reform-minded lawmaker, citing his contributions to the Banks and Other Financial Institutions Act (BOFIA) 2020. He noted that the legislation strengthened financial stability, embraced innovation, supported fintech growth and expanded access to credit for businesses and entrepreneurs.
Tinubu also commended the governor’s performance since assuming office on May 29, 2023, saying he had brought a refreshing tone to governance in Kaduna State through compassion, dialogue, reconciliation and development.
Meanwhile, Tajudeen, in a birthday message issued through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Musa Krishi, said the Kaduna state governor has, over the years, dedicated his life to the upliftment of others, becoming a role model to many.
He said at 55, Governor Uba Sani has become a beacon of hope and a true democrat with unrivalled credentials.
The Speaker expressed delight that Governor Uba Sani has, since his assumption of office, paid adequate attention to the transformation of Kaduna State, with a particular focus on rural development.
Abbas also noted the unity that the Sani administration has brought to the people of Kaduna and how the dividends of democracy have spread across the board in the states.
On the other hand, Abbas commiserated with the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) over the death of its members in a road crash in Gombe state.
The Speaker described the deaths as painful, shocking, and unfortunate.
Abbas, in a condolence message issued through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Musa Abdullahi Krishi, expressed his sorrow over the incident.
The Speaker commiserated with the families of the victims while extending his condolences to the NUJ at the state and national levels.
He prayed to God to grant the deceased eternal rest and give their families the fortitude to bear the loss. He wished the injured a quick recovery.
