The Federal Government has launched the Enterprise Content Management System (ECMS), also referred to as 1-Government (1-Gov) cloud, to enhance the digitalisation of the Public Service and improve performance as the country transitions to a paperless process in Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).
The 1- Government platform powered by the Galaxy Backbone (GBB) limited was unveiled in Abuja on Tuesday at the Ministry of Innovation, Science, and Technology to strengthen the goals of digital transformation, especially in line with the renewed hope agenda of President Tinubu’s administration to improve public service delivery and overall well-being of all Nigerians.
Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs Didi Esther Walson-Jack, in her remarks during the launch, said the initiative will strengthen “efficiency, accountability and drive national innovation, scientific advancement, technological development and effective digital records management fundamentally.”
Represented by Permanent Secretary, Service Policies and Strategies Office of the Head of Service of the Federation, Dr Isiaku Musa Mohammed, Mrs Walson-Jack added that it is a clear and strategic statement of intent aimed at shaping the future of Nigeria’s innovation ecosystem.
Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, Dr Kingsley Tochukwu Udeh, in his remarks, said that the launch marks a defining milestone for the Ministry and the country’s continuing journey towards a modern, efficient, and digitally empowered public service.
Represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr Philip Ndiomu, the Minister noted that the launch marks a new chapter in the digital transformation of the Ministry, stressing that it stands as a bold testament to the government’s commitment to institutional reforms and national transformation.
“This initiative aligns with the presidential initiative and the vision of the renewed hope agenda, with specific emphasis on the digitisation of government services with efficiency and inclusivity at the heart of national development.”
“By embracing the 1-Gov platform, we are moving from analogue, paper-based operations to a fully integrated digital ecosystem that empowers civil servants and enhances service delivery for all Nigerians,” he said.
Managing Director of Galaxy Backbone Limited, Professor Ibrahim Adeyanju, who was represented by the Group Head RDIS in the agency, Mr Akintayo Ayodele Bamisaye, assured that the GBB is 100% committed to the goals of digital transformation, especially in line with the renewed hope agenda of President Tinubu’s administration to improve public service delivery for the overall well-being of all Nigerians.
