Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has raised an alarm over a looming crisis that would be triggered by the conditions attached to resumption in office by the leadership of striking state chapter of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE).
The party it was deliberately designed to create chaos, pandemonium and violence which is capable of rocking the subsisting peace across the state.
The party therefore urged the statutory security services such as the Police, the Department of Security Services (DSS) and the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), to be at alert with a view to arresting and prosecuting whoever plans to disturb the public peace in the various council areas under the guise of causing the crisis being allegedly planned by the NULGE.
Osun NULGE, under the leadership of Dr Nathaniel Ogungbangbe, had, in a statement on Monday, indicated the willingness of the striking members to resume from their ten-month strike action with stringent conditions attached.
A statement by Osun APC Director of Media and Information, Mogaji Kola Olabisi, insisted that Osun NULGE is asking for more than it can chew, as it is beyond the scope of their official responsibilities to dictate to the council executives with whom they can work.
APC wondered when the Osun State NULGE assumed the role of the courts to interpret and choose whether to obey or not the judgment of the court, which has turned it into a grossly partisan and meddlesome interloper in the estimation of right-thinking members of society.
“We view the conditions rolled out by Ogungbangbe for the resumption announced as contemptuous, criminal, unacceptable, annoying, illegal and beyond their roles as public servants as they are unknown to the civil service procedures,” he said.
APC appealed to parents and guardians to warn their children and wards not to be willing tools in the hands of disgruntled political functionaries, adding that Ogungbangbe should be held responsible should there be a breakdown of law and order based on the partisan posture of the leadership of the Osun NULGE to cunningly smuggle in the unknown entities into the local government council areas in the state.
