Kogi Assembly Passes ₦820.4bn 2026 Budget Into Law

The Kogi State House of Assembly has passed into law the 2026 Appropriation Bill of ₦820,490,585,443.

The passage of the budget followed the adoption of the report of the House Standing Committee on Appropriation, Budget Monitoring and Economic Planning.

At the clause-by-clause consideration by the Committee of Supply, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Aliyu Umar Yusuf said the bill had authorised recurrent expenditure of over ₦365.43 billion, while ₦455.46 billion was approved for capital expenditure.

According to the Speaker, the bill which had shown the allocation of funds to each Ministries, Departments and Agencies takes effect from January 1, 2026, and ends December 31, 2026.

He commended legislators for their dedication and patriotism in carrying out their legislative duties.

Rt. Hon. Yusuf also appreciated the Clerk of the House, deputy clerks, management staff, legislative aides, the press, and civil society groups for their continuous support and constructive engagement throughout the legislative process.

The Speaker further assured stakeholders that the Assembly would continue to work towards strengthening institutional processes and improving working conditions, expressing optimism that the 2026 budget would make a meaningful contribution to the development of Kogi State.

The passage of the 2026 Appropriation Bill marked the completion of the budget legislative process, paving the way for its implementation in the coming fiscal year.

Recall that Governor Usman Ododo had, on December 2, 2025, presented ₦820,490,585,443 as Kogi State’s 2026 Appropriation Bill for approval by the Assembly.
