Because Bridgetown in Barbados is a kaleidoscope of African, Caribbean and British cultures. Its name, Bridgetown was derived from a simple wooden local bridge built by indigenous people over the Careenage river situated in the area. The first English settlers named the bridge, Indian Bridge before it was replaced y a European design bridge and then renamed Bridgetown.
