The Kwara State government yesterday announced plans to empower over 40 relations of fallen heroes during the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day.
The commissioner for social development, Dr. Mariam Imam, disclosed this in Ilorin during the launch of the Emblem Appeal Funds Week as part of activities to mark the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day.
She said the government would mark this year’s edition with the empowerment of over 40 persons including widows of fallen veterans, orphans and veterans living with disabilities.
Imam said each beneficiary would receive N200,000 as support to improve their living condition.
Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq acknowledged the significant roles of servicemen in promoting security, and promised to sustain his government’s support to uplift them and the well-being of their family.
The governor was represented by the commissioner for Finance, Dr Hauwa Nuru.
