Morakinyo is a familiar voice and presence in Nigerian broadcasting, a media professional whose career spans almost two decades and whose work now extends into marketing communications and brand strategy.

He introduces himself simply as a broadcast journalist, compere, content creator, and media relations expert, but his professional story reveals a much broader tapestry of experiences that have shaped his transition from newsroom duties to corporate communications and entrepreneurship.

Morakinyo is the founder and chief executive of PrimeFace Limited, a fast growing marketing communications company that offers media consulting, public relations management, digital marketing, and brand activations. The firm delivers end to end communication solutions for businesses and public figures seeking stronger visibility and deeper engagement with target audiences.

For him, it is not just about campaigns or publicity. It is about shaping how people perceive and understand the value that organisations or personalities bring to the table.

The decision to launch a company in the entertainment and communication sector was not driven by complicated theories or rigid planning. Morakinyo describes it as a journey influenced by providence, passion, and a growing desire for structure. Storytelling has always been his comfort zone and speaking to audiences brings him lasting joy. For many years, he rendered professional services simply because he loved the impact, not because he expected payment.

Turning forty, however, marked a turning point. It awakened a desire for sustainability, legacy, and a more organised approach to his gifts. He wanted a platform that could grow, evolve, and become something traceable, something that would continue to deliver memorable experiences and real value.

Looking back at the company’s progress, he believes the most important success is consistency. PrimeFace Limited has worked with major brands, governments, international institutions, and high net worth clients, many of whom have engaged him repeatedly for more than ten years. The opportunity to deliver another campaign or host another significant event is what he considers true achievement. For him, success is not defined by awards or global recognition, but by the trust that clients place in him year after year.

Profitability

On profitability, Morakinyo is straightforward. The industry pays the bills and also creates room for meaningful impact when approached with skill and authenticity. Since communication is fundamentally a people centred business, it often brings goodwill, opportunities, and lasting professional relationships. Yet the journey is not without obstacles. He notes that the sector can appear crowded, with many professionals scrambling for limited opportunities.

He avoids seeing this as competition. Instead, he focuses on service, value creation, and following the path he believes belongs to him. Patience, clarity, and faith guide his process.

Another major challenge is stereotyping. People often confuse his role as a compere with that of a comedian. He addresses this by setting clear expectations with clients from the very beginning, explaining what their budgets can realistically deliver and which approaches will produce lasting impact. His goal is always to ensure that there is no misunderstanding once work begins.

Advice

To aspiring entrepreneurs, his advice is shaped by experience. Building a business is a marathon that requires patience, deep understanding of the landscape, and commitment to excellence. He encourages young professionals to identify their strengths, carve out a distinct niche, learn from mentors, and stay strategic in their decision making. Flexibility is also important. When one method fails, the next attempt should come with refined tactics.

Morakinyo’s personal journey in broadcasting began in 2004 at the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria. Since then, he has worked with both public and private media houses including SuperScreen Television, Silverbird Television, Rhythm FM, and Lagos Television. His career has taken him through intense and sometimes difficult experiences, from hazardous field reports to viral social media moments.

He recalls losing his sense of smell for a long period after covering a vandalised pipeline. He also remembers a public bus ride that turned into a trending topic on social media simply because someone recognised him.

He has faced health challenges such as facial palsy, endured unpaid salaries, and navigated moments of embarrassment, yet he credits these experiences for strengthening his resolve and teaching him the importance of prioritising personal wellbeing.

Despite these challenges, his career has given him profound joy. He has interviewed presidents, spoken with governors, won the Newscaster of the Year award, and travelled across West Africa, France, Dubai, and the United Kingdom to cover major events. These milestones represent defining moments that continue to shape his professional identity.
