Former Senator and diplomat, Abdallah Wali, has resigned from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) after over two decades of association with the party.

In a letter dated December 31, 2025, and addressed to the PDP ward chairman of Sanyinna ward in Tambuwal LGA, Sokoto state, Wali said his resignation took immediate effect.

“I am resigning from my membership of the Peoples Democratic Party, including all organs of the PDP in which I am a member. This resignation takes immediate effect,” the letter read.

Wali thanked the PDP for the opportunities to serve both the party and the country, and expressed gratitude to his supporters for standing by him “for well over a quarter of a century.”

Copies of the resignation letter were forwarded to the PDP chairman in Tambuwal LGA and the party’s state chairman in Sokoto. As of the time of this report, Wali had not disclosed his next political move.

The resignation followed that of ex-Senator Gilbert Nnaji, who quit the PDP on December 26 after 27 years, citing difficulties in reconciling his decision with the party’s role in national development.
