The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Caucus in the Bauchi State House of Assembly has condemned allegations linking Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed to terrorism financing, describing the claims as baseless, misleading and unsupported by facts.

The caucus, led by the speaker of the House,  Hon. Abubakar Sulaiman, said the allegations lacked credible evidence and should be disregarded by the public.

According to the lawmakers, the claims are a calculated attempt to smear the image of Governor Bala Mohammed and divert attention from his administration’s ongoing developmental initiatives across the state.

Sulaiman reaffirmed the caucus’ total confidence in the governor’s leadership, noting that Bala Mohammed has consistently demonstrated commitment to peace, security, and good governance in Bauchi State.

In a statement issued yesterday by the speaker’s spokesperson, Mukhtar Garba Kobi, the PDP legislators expressed disappointment over what they described as the growing trend of accusing leaders with zero tolerance for violence and extremism of sponsoring terrorism.

“The PDP state legislators, led by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Abubakar Y. Sulaiman, expressed their dismay over the manner in which leaders known for their stance against violence are being falsely accused of sponsoring terrorism or associating with criminals,” the statement said.

“We condemn in totality the malicious prosecution and blatant falsehoods leveled against our governor, portraying him as a sponsor of terrorism in Nigeria,” the statement added.

While acknowledging internal challenges within the PDP, the caucus expressed optimism that the party would overcome its difficulties under the current leadership.

The speaker assured that members of the House would continue to work in unity and within constitutional provisions to support policies and programmes aimed at advancing the development of Bauchi State.

The caucus described its stance as a demonstration of loyalty, respect, and steadfast support for Governor Bala Mohammed, while calling on residents of Bauchi State to remain calm and focused.
