APC Groups Urge Tinubu To Caution Wike Over Attacks On Fubara

The APC Leaders Forum and the Tinubu/Shettima Solidarity Movement have asked President Bola Tinubu to call the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, to order over his sustained attacks on Rivers State governor, Siminalayi Fubara.

In a joint statement made available to journalists in Abuja on Thursday, the groups described Wike’s conduct as a liability to the ruling party and warned it could undermine the APC ahead of the 2027 general election.

The statement was jointly signed by Chief Emeka Okoro, an APC chieftain and South-East elder statesman; APC National Youth Vanguard leader, Alhaji Ibrahim Yusuf; TSSM National Coordinator, Dr Adekunle Balogun; and its National Spokesman, Mallam Abdulkareem Isiaka.

They accused the minister of openly admitting to controlling two political parties while serving in an APC-led government, describing it as a conflict of interest that mocked the party’s constitution.

According to them, Wike’s fixation on Rivers politics had distracted him from his ministerial duties and drawn unnecessary battle lines within the party.

The groups echoed earlier calls by the APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru, and other party leaders, insisting that Wike must be removed from office to avert internal crisis.

They also threatened to embark on nationwide rallies, beginning from the APC National Secretariat, until the minister was relieved of his appointment.

The statement accused Wike, whom they described as a non-member of the APC, of launching unprovoked attacks on the party’s national leadership, particularly Basiru, during a visit to Oyigbo Local Government Area of Rivers State on January 5, 2026.

They said the minister’s alleged threats and remarks against APC leaders and Governor Fubara amounted to anti-party activities capable of weakening the party’s grip on Rivers State.

The groups further claimed that Wike’s statement that “nobody can enter Rivers State” was a veiled challenge to presidential authority and a threat to national security.

They urged Tinubu to act swiftly, insisting that no individual should be seen as bigger than the party or the nation, while reaffirming their support for the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
