Webmark Empowerment Foundation, a non-governmental organisation, has donated electricity transformers, solar plants and a sit out to communities in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The communities include Lugbe Phase 2 extension, and Gudaba community in Kuje Area Council of the FCT.
Speaking at the event,Mrs Alukwe Ugochinyere, the Programme Coordinator, Webmark Empowerment Foundation said, “Webmark Empowerment Foundation is a critical part of the major parent company which is the Webmark Estate Services and our aim is to ensure that our corporate social responsibility is given more visibility.
“We also want to fulfill our promises and ensure that we give back to the society as the Bible states that it is more blessed to give than to receive.
“Therefore, the foundation is here to give as much as possible back to our environs, especially the locals within and around our estates locations and other vulnerable locations identified by our organisation.
Presenting the materials to the two communities, Dr. Chukwuemeka Maha said the idea was to help people feel comfortable in their homes with good power supply.
He noted that the gesture was also geared towards making accommodation accessible to the citizens.
Also speaking at the event the Managing Director, Webmark Estate Services,Mr Olapeace Ogunfile, said “What we hope to achieve with this is to lessen the burden of light issues in Nigeria because when you have a solar-powered form of electricity, it will be easy for you to do whatever you want to do.We also noticed that there are no sit-outs around those communities, so if there is rain or the weather is too hot, people do not get where to sit down.”
One of the beneficiaries at Lugbe Phase 2 extension, Mr Odun Obasa noted that the electricity transformer and the solar plant would attract more development to the area and make life easier for them
On his part the Chairman Estate Subscribers, FGC Webmark Estate Phase 4,5,6 Gudaba Kuje,Mr Abiodun Ojo, appreciated the Foundation for the gesture and called urged Nigerians to take advantage of the affordable plots on offer at the estate.
