Tunde Adelakun Appointed Head Of NSC Diaspora Talents Discovery Committee

The National Sports Commission (NSC) has announced the appointment of seasoned sports technocrat, Tunde Adelakun, as Chairman of its newly established Diaspora Talents Discovery Committee.

Honourable Bukola Olopade, Director General of the NSC, made the announcement in a press statement signed by Dr. Mrs. Kehinde Ajayi, Director of Information and Public Relations for the NSC, and distributed to journalists yesterday in Abuja. Olopade stated that the commission’s leadership, led by Chairman Mallam Shehu Dikko, carefully selected Adelakun due to his extensive experience in sports, particularly within the diaspora.

The Director General highlighted the committee’s vital importance to the commission, noting it will further strengthen the ‘Renewed Hope Initiative’ for Nigeria’s sports development through scientific approaches aimed at achieving sustained podium excellence.

“Mallam Shehu Dikko and I are extremely enthusiastic about the direction we are taking to ensure we harness all our national resources, both domestically and abroad, to achieve sporting excellence, and this committee will manage the diaspora aspect.”

He added, “Adelakun, with his rich diaspora network and connections, will help us attract thousands of our sons and daughters eager to represent our magnificent country with pride and dignity.”

The newly appointed Chairman, Tunde Adelakun, expressed the significance of the appointment to him, describing the initiative as one that will transform the landscape of Nigerian sports.

“This exemplifies adopting international best practices to leverage all resources, both at home and abroad, to attain sporting excellence.”
