Rivers State governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, on Sunday morning, returned to Port Harcourt, the state capital, after spending about one week overseas.

Upon his return, Fubara and his entourage were said to have moved straight to Saint Cyprian’s Anglican Church, Port Harcourt, venue of the 2026 Armed Forces Celebration and Remembrance Day Church Service.

The church service was presided over by the Archbishop of the Province of Niger Delta, Anglican Church, Most Reverend Blessing Enyinna.

Recall that 26 members of the Rivers State House of Assembly had last Thursday signed a notice of impeachment against the governor and his deputy, Professor Ngozi Odu, over alleged gross misconduct.

Some of the allegations against Fubara and Odu include demolition of the House of Assembly complex, extra budgetary spendings, withholding of funds meant for the Assembly Service Commission and refusal to obey the Supreme Court judgement on the financial autonomy of the House.
