Ohanaeze, Arewa Youths Hail Tinubu, FIRS Boss Over Smooth Takeoff Of New Tax Regime

Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo and Arewa socio-cultural groups have commended President Bola Tinubu and the executive chairman of the National Revenue Service (NRS), Mr. Zacch Adedeji, for the seamless commencement of the new tax regime across the country.

In a joint statement signed by Mallam Kabiru Yusuf, the groups described the hitch-free implementation of the tax framework as a major milestone in Nigeria’s ongoing economic reform efforts, noting that it reflects “effective planning, broad stakeholder engagement and strong political will” by the Federal Government.

Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo said the successful rollout underscored President Tinubu’s commitment to strengthening national revenue generation, promoting fiscal discipline and laying a sustainable foundation for long-term economic growth.

The group emphasised that “a transparent and efficient tax system is critical to national development, and urged Nigerians to support these reforms in the overall interest of the country.”

Similarly, Arewa socio-cultural group praised the leadership of President Tinubu and the NRS under Mr. Adedeji for ensuring a hitch-free commencement of the policy, despite initial concerns and legal challenges that trailed the reform.

They said the development clearly showed that government institutions were operating in sync with the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

The groups also commended the judiciary for providing legal clarity through its rulings, which they said paved the way for the timely implementation of the tax reforms and called on citizens to be patient with the reforms.

The groups reaffirmed their support for reforms aimed at repositioning the Nigerian economy and urged the Federal Government to sustain continuous engagement with stakeholders to ensure inclusiveness and build public confidence in the reform process.
