Federal government has activated a Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) Surveillance Centre to enhance security operations by the Lagos State Police Command across Lagos Island and its surrounding areas.
The state command’s police public relations officer, Abimbola Adebisi, said the facility, which was unveiled on January 14, 2026, is operated by the command under the leadership of the commissioner of police, Mr Olohundare Jimoh.
She said the CCTV Surveillance Centre, which was constructed and equipped by the federal government through the Ministry of Works, is designed to provide real-time monitoring of critical infrastructure, including the Third Mainland Bridge, adjoining waterways and other strategic locations on Lagos Island.
According to the Lagos State Police Command, “the project was executed under the supervision of the Minister of Works, Engr. Dave Umahi, as part of efforts to strengthen technology-driven policing and proactive crime prevention”
The Command revealed that the centre also functions as Control Room 5 and operates around the clock, staffed by well-trained police officers to ensure swift, intelligence-led responses to security threats.
Similarly, two operational vehicles were handed over to the Command to aid rapid deployment and response to incidents detected through the surveillance system.
The police image-maker said the CCTV infrastructure would significantly improve the protection of lives and property, particularly in high-traffic, security-sensitive areas on Lagos Island.
Hence, Lagos State Police Command has called on residents to remain vigilant and actively support security efforts by promptly reporting suspicious activities.
Members of the public were urged to use the Command’s emergency lines: 0706 101 9374, 0806 515 4338, 0806 329 9264, and 0803 934 4870.
Meanwhile, the Command reaffirmed its commitment to leveraging modern technology and community partnership to ensure a safer Lagos State
