Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, on Friday reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting the Federal Government’s livestock value chain development policy during a courtesy visit by the Minister of Livestock Development, Mukhtar Idi Maiha, to the state.

The governor, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Barrister Auwal Tukur, said the state government is fully prepared to align with and support federal initiatives aimed at developing the livestock sub-sector.

Barrister Tukur described livestock as a critical economic resource that must be properly harnessed to drive economic growth and sustainable development, both in Adamawa State and across the country. He noted that the state is strategically positioned to play a leading role in livestock development due to its vast landmass and long history of animal husbandry.

According to him, the Fintiri administration remains committed to policies and programmes that will unlock the full potential of the livestock sector for job creation, food security, and revenue generation.

Earlier, the Minister of Livestock Development, Mukhtar Idi Maiha, said his visit was to appreciate the Adamawa State Government for its support and the successful hosting of the National Livestock Summit.

He explained that the visit also provided an opportunity for routine consultations with livestock communities and other critical stakeholders, as well as an on-the-spot assessment of grazing reserves and existing facilities ahead of the implementation of the National Ranching Policy.

Maiha noted that Adamawa State hosts some of the largest grazing reserves in the country and possesses enormous livestock resources which, if properly developed and managed, could make a significant contribution to national economic growth.
