Several Asian countries have simplified travel procedures for Nigerian passport holders by introducing electronic visa (e-visa) systems, reducing the need for physical embassy visits and easing application processes.

The e-visa platforms allow travellers to apply online, upload required documents and, in some cases, receive approvals electronically. However, prospective travellers are advised to verify current requirements, eligibility criteria and processing timelines through official immigration channels, as visa policies may change without prior notice.

Below are seven Asian destinations currently offering e-visa or simplified visa arrangements to Nigerians:

1. South Korea
South Korea provides an e-visa option for Nigerians, but applicants are required to submit physical documents through the Visa Application Centre (VFS). All supporting documents must be presented as part of the application process.

2. Singapore
Singapore operates a referral-based visa system for Nigerian travellers. Applications must be submitted through a Singapore citizen, permanent resident or a licensed visa agent.

3. Malaysia
Nigerians are eligible for Malaysia’s e-visa programme for tourism, business and social visits. The application process is completed entirely online, with digital submission of all required documents.

4. Thailand
Thailand offers an e-visa service to Nigerians for tourism and other approved purposes. Applicants are required to provide a police character certificate and a report from the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

5. Philippines
The Philippines has introduced an e-visa option that simplifies short-stay applications for Nigerian travellers visiting for tourism or business.

6. Hong Kong
Nigerian travellers can apply online for a Hong Kong e-visa or complete a pre-arrival registration, depending on the purpose and length of stay. The process often requires extensive documentation, including pictorial evidence of previous travel history.

7. Indonesia
Indonesia grants Nigerians access to its e-visa platform for tourism, business and other approved categories. The application process typically requires fewer documents compared to many other destinations.

Travel experts advise applicants to prepare documentation carefully and rely only on official immigration portals to avoid delays or visa refusals.
