The Lagos State House of Assembly has deferred the confirmation of Mrs Adebisi Adelabu as General Manager of the Lagos State Parking Authority (LASPA), citing alleged procedural and constitutional violations linked to her previous tenure.

The decision was disclosed in a statement issued after Thursday’s plenary session of the House, which was presided over by the Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa.

During the session, lawmakers raised concerns that Adelabu had occupied the position of LASPA General Manager since 2021 without undergoing the mandatory legislative screening required for such an appointment.

They described her continued stay in office without confirmation as illegal, unconstitutional, and a direct breach of the Assembly’s legislative authority.

Despite declining to confirm Adelabu’s nomination, the House approved several other nominees for other positions.

Among those confirmed was Mr Kehinde Durosinmi-Etti, who was screened and approved as Chairman of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund.

Additionally, the Assembly confirmed the appointments of Engr. Olopade Adekunle, Barrister Temitope George, Mr Alexander Akinwunmi, Mr Falola Olakunle, and Mr Bello Wasiu Oladimeji.

The nominees were to serve in various leadership and membership capacities within the Lagos State Electricity Regulatory Commission.
