Three Crown Mines, a Nigerian gemstone producer, has positioned itself as a prime investment opportunity while elevating Nigeria’s profile in the global gems market.

The company joined global players at the Gems Sri Lanka 2026 Conference, held from January 7 to 9 in Colombo, to shape the future of the gemstones industry.

As a leading mineral exploration and mining firm, it aligns its efforts with global best practices and its policy of creating wealth and jobs through responsible mining.

Company representative Ibrahim Arzuka said Three Crown Mines attended the international fair to share its expertise and contribute to the knowledge and development of the gemstones industry in Nigeria and worldwide.

“The company will continue to reposition itself for growth and quality service delivery,” he added. At the exhibition, Arzuka described Three Crown Mines Nigeria Limited as a company with vast mining experience, noting that it currently operates projects in sapphire and other precious gemstones.

He explained the value of the company’s participation: “As a company, we are here to share our insights on the gemstone market while identifying potential investors for collaboration.”

The firm said it is already “in contact with local connoisseurs and international dealers.”

Arzuka pledged that Three Crown Mines will continue working in line with global best practices to transform raw gemstones into valuable gems through value addition and standardised processing.

He commended the Gems Sri Lanka organisers for providing a platform where gemstone industry stakeholders can exchange ideas to advance the sector in Nigeria and beyond. Through research and development (R&D) discussions, partners offered new insights into key challenges.

In Nigeria, Three Crown Mines has earned renown for its commitment to responsible mineral extraction and large-scale development of its host communities, including support for education, infrastructure, and healthcare.

Arzuka highlighted a major challenge: “You can encounter dark blue, dark blue-green, or geuda-type sapphires. Through research and shared knowledge here, we now have solutions to transform them into real gems.”

At the conference, partners and authorities demonstrated how multicolored sapphires can be transformed via simple, non-destructive processes.

“We have seen it here,” Arzuka said. “I’ve learned how to do it simply.”

He noted that while heating is a common method to convert blue-green or dark blue sapphires into real gemstones, R&D at Gems Sri Lanka uncovered three additional techniques.

“Basically, we learned three methods: the traditional one, plus two others—one based on oxidation and the other on reduction, using basic chemistry knowledge

.”Arzuka commended the organizers and assured that Three Crown Mines Nigeria Limited will not only transfer this technology but also improve it to maximise gemstones’ potential for wealth and job creation.
