Olufemi Odugbose, a veteran journalist and former Deputy Chief Sub-Editor of The PUNCH, is dead.
He passed on to eternity on the morning of Wednesday, January 29.
The family announced his death in a statement.
According to the statement, Odugbose’s remains will be laid to rest in Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State, on Saturday, January 31, after a wake at his residence in Ago-Iwoye on Friday, January 30.
Odugbose was a highly respected media professional who spent many years at The PUNCH as a sub-editor, rising to Deputy Chief Sub-Editor before resigning in 1999. In the same year, he co-founded Treasure Weekly, a publication based in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
Widely regarded as a principled journalist, meticulous page planner, author, and publisher, Odugbose also served as private secretary to the first civilian governor of Ogun State, the late Chief Bisi Onabanjo.
Before joining The PUNCH, he worked with the Nigerian Tribune as a reporter and sub-editor.
In the early 1980s, he collaborated with veteran journalist and writer Chief Tola Adeniyi, editing The Stamp and Naked World, newspapers Adeniyi published.
Odugbose is survived by his wife, four children, and many grandchildren.
