The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), the umbrella body for professional screen actors in the Nigerian film industry, said plans were underway to build ‘Nollywood Centre’, a multi-purpose creative hub in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja.

The outgoing National President of AGN, Dr Ejezie Emeka Rollas, disclosed this in his address at the inauguration ceremony of the guild’s new National Executive Council (NEC), which has Abubakar Yakubu as the new National President.

Rollas, whose second and final tenure ended in December 2025, handed over to Yakubu as the new National President of the Guild.

In a bid to enhance its operational capacity, administrative structure and national presence, the Guild had in June 2025 opened its national office in the FCT.

According to Rollas, “In pursuit of long-term institutional security, we made bold strategic decisions. We acquired a multi-million naira landed property in Abuja, exchanging an undervalued governmental allocation for a more viable asset.

“Today, the Guild proudly owns a property worth N300million in Katampe, already earmarked for an ultra-modern Nollywood Centre with an estimated development cost of N1.3 billion.

“We therefore call on the organised private sector to partner with us in bringing this vision to life.”

He added that, “this administration also established a befitting national headquarters in Abuja, making us the first AGN leadership to do so, thereby giving the guild a dignified and permanent presence at the seat of national governance.”

“Internationally, we expanded programmes across the USA, the UK, Europe, and Africa, opening new pathways for exposure, partnerships, and opportunities for our members,” he added.

Rollas expressed optimism that his successor’s track record of dedication, professionalism, and selfless service has equipped him with the experience required to provide effective leadership.

He charged the new president and his team to prioritise members’ welfare, enhance capacity-building initiatives, and invest in programmes that directly support professional development of members and unity of the Guild.

Rollas reaffirmed its willingness to continue supporting the Guild in the collective effort to build a vibrant and progressive Nollywood.

“As I take my final bow out of office, my appeal to you is clear and heartfelt; do not stand on the sidelines.

“Get involved, attend meetings, participate in programmes, support initiatives, contribute financially and materially according to your capacity.

“Hold leaders accountable, but also support them. A Guild that relies solely on its executives will struggle, but a Guild sustained by the active involvement of its members will flourish.

“To the incoming president, I pledge my continued loyalty, counsel and support because leadership is like a relay race, it’s not a contest,” he said.
