Niger State Governor Mohammed Bago has approved the total lifting of the restriction on the movement of motorcycles and tricycles within  Minna metropolis between 8:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.

The governor had banned the movement of motorcycles and tricycles at night, especially in the state capital, Minna following the upsurge in urban crimes.

The Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Abubakar Usman, who explained that the decision followed a comprehensive review of the prevailing security situation in the state capital,  said it was based on the strong recommendations of the State Security Committee.

Usman said  the removal of the restriction was a clear reflection of the significant and sustained improvement in the security landscape of Minna.

He noted that the initial imposition of the ban was a proactive measure that effectively achieved its primary objectives of curbing criminal activities and protecting lives and property.

He lauded the  commitment and professionalism of the security agencies, as well as the commendable cooperation and understanding demonstrated by residents of Minna throughout the period of the restriction.

He reassured that the administration of Governor Bago remained firmly committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of the people.

According to him,  the state government will continue to work closely with security agencies to monitor developments and sustain the current level of peace and security across the metropolis.

The SSG called on motorcycle and tricycle operators as well as the general public to conduct their activities in a lawful, orderly and responsible manner.

He further stated that security agencies had been directed to remain vigilant and ensure strict compliance with all existing traffic and safety regulations.
