The senate has demanded accountability and professionalism in the use of public resources.

The chairman, senate committee on banking, insurance and other financial Institutions, Mukhail Adetokunbo, made the remark in Owerri, Imo State, during the committee’s oversight visit to the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) Owerri zonal office at the weekend.

Adetokunbo, represented by Osita Izunaso representing Imo West, said the Senate remained committed to supporting NDIC through appropriate legislation and budgetary provisions to enable it serve Nigerians better.

According to him, the visit afforded the committee the opportunity to interact with the management and staff, review ongoing activities, assess operational challenges, and gain first – hand insight into the working conditions of NDIC.

He said issues such as funding, staffing, infrastructure, inter- agency collaboration and compliance with extant laws and policies were of interest to the committee.
