Following the return of relative peace to the troubled parts of Kwara North and South, the state government has directed the immediate reopening of all schools hitherto closed.
LEADERSHIP reports that the government had in the wake of intense bandit operations closed some schools in Ifelodun local government area of the state.
But, the government yesterday , in a statement signed by the commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Dr Lawal Olohungbe, directed all schools to reopen today.
The statement reads: “Schools across Kwara State can now reopen from Monday, February 2, 2026,” the government announced yesterday.
“School authorities have been notified of the decision which came amid continuous security operations to neutralise all threats to the public, including schools.
“The government deems the situation now to be a lot better than it was before. Even so, we continue to maintain vigilance,” the statement said.
“Security operations continue steadily to sustain the gains of the past weeks while the government builds community resilience along with the kinetic efforts.”
