The Southern Kaduna Peoples’ Union (SOKAPU) has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kaduna State governor, Senator Uba Sani, over the safe rescue of worshippers abducted in Kurmin Wali on January 18, 2026.
In a statement signed by its national president, Engr. Tabara Samuel Kato, the union expressed profound gratitude to both the federal and State governments for what it described as a successful and timely operation that led to the victims’ freedom.
SOKAPU said the rescue demonstrates the commitment of the two administrations to fulfilling their promises and strengthening security across the country.
“This success is an eloquent testimony of commitment to the fulfilment of promises and the resolve of the federal and state governments to bequeath unto us a governance culture of responsiveness, action and proactiveness for a safe and progressive society,” Kato said.
The group also applauded the federal and state security architecture and their personnel for what it termed a gallant effort in securing the victims within a reasonable timeframe.
While celebrating the development, SOKAPU urged both governments not to relent in their efforts to safeguard other vulnerable communities across the State.
SOKAPU further identified the Kauru, Kachia, Sanga, Lere, Birnin Gwari, and Kajuru local governments as areas requiring sustained security attention.
The union further expressed its appreciation to Governor Uba Sani for commencing road construction to Kurmin Wali, noting that the project reflects his commitment to fulfilling the promises he made to the people.
SOKAPU reaffirmed its support for initiatives aimed at ensuring lasting peace and development in Kaduna and across Nigeria.
