The Lagos State Number Plate Production Authority (LSNPPA) has urged vehicle owners to handle their number plates with care, saying it is their identity.
In a post shared on Lagos State’s X account on Friday, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of LSNPPA, Mr. Olayanju Cole, made the appeal during a meeting with the Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency (LASCOPA), led by its General Manager/CEO, Afolabi Solebo.
During the engagement, Cole emphasised the importance of number plates, noting, “your number plate is your identity on the road.”
The discussion centered on issues relating to faded and damaged number plates, as well as the need for motorists to replace worn-out or defective plates with new, standardised ones issued by the Lagos State Government.
Cole also warned against using chemically concentrated substances such as aromatic solvents, alcohol-based spirits, acetone, petrol, brake oil, kerosene, or abrasive materials to clean number plates, cautioning that such practices can damage the plates and render them unreadable.
LASCOPA reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding motorists’ rights and enhancing service delivery across Lagos State.
