The chairman/CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has expressed deep sorrow over the killing of a 20-year-old Nigerian student, Khaleed Oladipo, who was fatally stabbed in Leicester, United Kingdom.

Oladipo, a second-year Cybersecurity student at De Montfort University, was reportedly attacked while returning home to watch a football match. His grieving family described him as “an extremely loved son and family member whose life was cut short far too soon.”

In a statement issued on Saturday signed by Abdur-Rahman Balogun, Head of Media, Public Relations, and Protocols Unit at NiDCOM headquarters in Abuja, Dabiri-Erewa described the incident as “heartbreaking and a painful loss not only to the Oladipo family but to the entire Nigerian community both at home and in the diaspora.”

She condemned the senseless act and urged British authorities to conduct a thorough investigation to bring the perpetrators to justice.

“This is a deeply painful tragedy. Khaleed’s death is one too many, and justice must not only be done but seen to be done,” Dabiri-Erewa said.

The NiDCOM boss extended her condolences to the Oladipo family and the Nigerian student community in the UK, praying for strength to bear the loss.
