Professor Hakeem Ibikunle Tijani, an expert in African and African Diaspora History, has urged Nigerians living abroad to take advantage of the Trans-border Education Policy of president Bola Ahmed Tinubu to develop their home country.
He made this statement yesterday at the APC Economic Summit 2026 held at the Nigeria House in New York. Tijani stressed the importance of Nigerians overseas sharing their knowledge, collaborating with local institutions, and establishing skill development centers in Nigeria.
He urged them to be innovative and to cultivate potential entrepreneurial skills that would contribute to the growth of the economic sector.
Tijani’s work has advanced historical comprehension and enhanced educational methodologies across various disciplines worldwide.
Dr. Hakeem Ibikunle Tijani is a prominent professor of African and African Diaspora History and currently holds the position of Executive Director of the Office of Global Partnerships-Africa at Morgan State University.
He is a respected author and scholar with several years of experience, focusing his research on African nationalism, labour issues, and the process of decolonization.
Other dignitaries at the event include, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, APC National Chairman, who was represented by the National Deputy Chairman (South), Chief Emma Nweuku. Chief of Staff to APC National Chairman, Mustapha Bala ; and the senior special assistant to the national chairman, Dr. Peace Londgdet, all applauded the unity of purpose and the show of sincerity by APC Diaspora members.
