The Cosmopolitan Statement: Designed For Presence

Today, I will be looking at its 2025 collection of resilience and elegance. Let’s see what I find.

The first outfit of the cosmopolitan 2025 collection is a baby pink armless corset top and layered trousers, featuring white strings. The silhouette of this outfit is heavy on the layered structure and volume of the trousers. But first, the fabric introduces some spark. The baby pink fabric enhances a visual impact. It gives off a soft, calm and delicate feel, complementing the femininity of womanhood. Pink has always been known to be a girl’s colour, so it is no surprise that the designer’s choice of colour is a perfect fit for this piece.

The corset top looks trimmed and proper. Its architectural structure stabilises the volume of the trousers a bit. The chest collar modernises the corset top and sets a balanced proportion between comfort and fashion. Its armless nature embraces sensuality in a bold and classy manner. I appreciate the designer’s originality in this piece. Each pair shines independently without appearing too heavy or distracting.

Now, moving on to the trousers. It is a train of dramatic flair, and I love it. The layers appear to be neatly attached, maintaining proportion and elevating movement. The strings are an added element to the beauty. It doesn’t look too overwhelming, and it introduces softness to the overall appearance of the outfit. The trousers’ fluidity is also an added advantage, giving wearers flexibility and style in one piece. In this form, this outfit maintains its versatility and is appropriate for any event, whether an award night, red carpet or corporate event.

While this outfit is a good choice, there are a few changes the designer might want to consider. Firstly, the corset top seems a bit too tight and restricted. I know that measurements and fitting vary upon body type, but for further designs, the designer might want to make these tops a little bit breathable, at least for wearers with specific tastes.

Also, the armless design works well, but offering options like a spaghetti strap for balance, or a jacket for preference and additional coverage, broadens its appeal without compromising the original aesthetic. Additionally, the layered volume on the trousers is quite fashionable and visually appealing. But it may overwhelm some body types. The designer could consider offering reduced-volume variations to improve adaptability and wearability.

For the second outfit, the cosmopolitan fashion house graces this collection with a hot red two-piece. This outfit features a one-armed sleeveless top with voluminous drape on the other arm. It is paired with a mermaid-cut pair of trousers that immediately sets the tone for chicness and style. The fabric looks rich and holds different creative designs.

With the top as the centre of attraction, the structure comes off rather enticing than ‘too extra’.  The shoulder-to-ankle drape is the first thing to look out for here. The design is precise and well-detailed. The encirclement forms a fashionable shield around the upper part of the body.  This drape, aside from its dramatic feel, balances the sleeveless side of the top, preventing it from looking flat and less decorative.

Next are the mermaid-cut trousers. These trousers are sharp and captivating at first glance. They are trimmed fit, which elongates the legs, and sit properly on the skin. The mermaid cut makes the trousers noticeable and a little bit flirty. They also add sway to movement, giving the piece a touch of versatility and softness. This piece is proper for casual events, dates, and corporate gatherings, which makes it acceptable.

However, a minor adjustment could enhance the appeal of this outfit. The designs are creative, yes, but something is missing. Right now, it lacks the right fashion aesthetics to give it the perfect ambience. I recommend that for a proper visual attraction, an outfit such as this shouldn’t be left plain with no embroidery. This makes the outfit look extremely flat and displeasing to the eye. Because red is a fascinating colour, the designer doesn’t have to make so many adjustments. He simply needs to add a silver embroidery to enhance its look and make it more visually pleasing.

Also, while the drapes command respect and give a hint of fashion sense, they could be minimised to serve different wearers with varied interests. The designer might also want to consider changing the fabric to something less thick and more breathable. Because the outfit already has a lot of heavy features like the voluminous drape, the fabric should come in something that is soft and more fluid.

Like the first outfit, the final look also comes in a baby pink colour. This outfit features a pink inner shirt, a cropped jacket and a pair of trousers. This piece ticks off the famous style of the sixties just by looking at it.

The fabric of this outfit is radiant, and the elements of each piece are rightly put in place. The collar of the shirt is a standard kind, and I love it. It draws attention to the neck, but also introduces the crop jacket seamlessly. The jacket is trim and fitted, hugging the body without restrictions. It also balances with the structure of the trousers, giving room for collaboration rather than over-taking. Also, the inclusion of pockets improves the outfit’s functionality while also adding a bit of old-school to the theme.

This outfit proves to be durable, wearable, fashionable, and versatile. It can definitely be worn to fashionable events, and even exhibits, because it depicts not just creativity, but contemporary adaptation.

Technically, this is a good piece, but it seems to have a fabric overload. The same patterned fabric is used for both the jacket and trousers, and it’s quite busy. Without a solid colour or texture contrast, the look feels a bit heavy and flat rather than intentional. The designer should consider introducing a clear visual break so the pattern can breathe and feel intentional.

This can be done by replacing one of the patterned elements, preferably the inner top, with a solid colour such as white, cream, or soft blush, or by pairing either the jacket or trousers with a plain, well-tailored counterpart. Alternatively, maintaining the colour while changing texture adds depth without overwhelming the eye. The goal is to let one piece carry the print while the other supports it, creating balance, contrast, and a more refined overall look. Also, the trousers feel a little bit stiff around the waist.

To address this, the design should be softened to improve both comfort and visual flow by introducing a partially elasticised or adjustable waistband at the back, or incorporating subtle pleats that allow the fabric to drape more naturally. A higher-quality lining or a slightly relaxed cut around the waist and hips would also reduce rigidity, helping the trousers sit more fluidly on the body while maintaining a polished, tailored appearance.

Overall, this collection has proven to be innovative, adaptable, and fashionably accommodating. Each piece embodies the grace, resilience and elegance of an African woman. Individually, they have drawn influence from modern, retro and contemporary states of fashion. Reflecting the renowned beauty and versatility of not just fashion, but women who choose to wear it. From the armless corset top that suggests the modernised Western fashion from the Victorian era, to the mini jackets and trousers that give off the old-school feel of pop culture, the 2025 cosmopolitan collection has integrated versatility and durability into its theme, making it a must-look at in contemporary fashion.
