Taraba State governor, Dr Agbu Kefas, has emphasised the need for stronger collaboration between states and the federal government.
He warned that any state which failed to build strategic partnerships will be left behind in terms of development.
Kefas made the assertion yesterday in Jalingo when he hosted the leadership of the North East Development Commission (NEDC), who were in the state to inspect and inaugurates projects executed by the organisation.
The governor stressed that meaningful and accelerated development can only be achieved when state governments align their policies and programmes with federal initiatives.
According to him, synergy between both tiers of government opens doors for increased investment, infrastructure expansion and improved delivery of social services.
“Any government that does not partner or collaborate with the Federal Government will be left behind in terms of development,” the governor said.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to sustaining cordial relationship with the federal government in order to attract more developmental projects and improve the welfare of the people of Taraba State.
Earlier, the minister of State for Regional Development, Alhaji Uba Maigeri Ahmadu, disclosed that the NEDC had installed streetlights across all the local government areas, and executed several water supply projects in different communities of the state.
The minister explained that, the interventions were part of the commission’s broader mandate to enhance infrastructure and improve living conditions in the North-East region, particularly for underserved and marginalised populations.
“Our visit to Taraba is to inspect and commission projects. The NEDC has provided streetlights to all the local government areas and executed water projects spread across the state. Underserved and marginalized persons have also been reached with succour,” the minister stated.
He pledged sustained collaboration with the Taraba State Government and commended Governor Kefas for fostering productive engagement with the federal government beyond partisan considerations.
According to him, such cooperation will further accelerate development efforts in the state.
