The Cross River State Police Command has responded to reports of corpses discovered at a local embalmment hall in Isong Inyang Community along Calabar–Ikom Highway on Friday, February 13, 2026.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Sunday Akata, disclosed this in Calabar while reacting to the development.

He said that Police operatives were mobilised to the scene after receiving credible information at about 11:56hrs on Friday in Calabar.

Upon arrival, eight mummified corpses were found in the hall and one suspect, Mr. Sunday Ben Reuben, a native of Nsit Ibom local government area of neighbouring Akwa Ibom State, was arrested at the location.

The PPRO averred that preliminary investigation showed that the suspect was a mortician attached to Enghaut Company Mortuary, located in Akamkpa local government area of Cross River State.
