Youths Urged To Participate In Politics

Chairman of Manufar Matasa, an organisation which supports youth in politics and other empowerment programmes, FCT chapter, Charles Gold-Nnachi, has advised Nigerian youths to participate in politics.

He said their involvement is essential to achieving good governance at all levels.

Gold-Nnachi made the call on occasion of his 43rd birthday held in Abuja at the weekend.

The event attracted political leaders and other dignitaries.

He appealed to the youths not to shy away from politics.

“If people who are ‘young’ in mind do not get involved in politics, leaving it for the old and recycled politicians, they will continue to oppress the younger generation”, he said. “We cannot appreciate or change the system from the outside. We need to get inside. We are the youth and are active to change the trajectory in politics.

Therefore, the youth should get involved in politics,” he said.

He stressed the need for leadership that inspires confidence across the various sectors of the society championed by the youth and promotes unity and merit.

“We need leaders who recognise and respect potentials in everyone. Such leadership deserves our support, our prayers, and our goodwill, because good governance thrives where unity is promoted and merit is rewarded,” he said.

He urged the youths, to prepare ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“As we approach 2027, neutrality is no longer an option. We must participate in the political process. We must register as voters, take part in voting, engage political candidates, and support credible leaders,” he said.

He also encouraged professionals to offer their expertise by serving on advisory councils and mentoring positions.

“We must speak with piety, charity, and courage to our political leaders. Let the dictates of our conscience guide our choices in the 2027 elections, which will shape our common good,” he added.

He explained that the youths should choose a political party that aligns with their ideology and support and participate fully.

He emphasised that power and influence are tools that should be used to promote justice in society.

“We cannot keep complaining about insecurity and poor leadership without being willing to participate in the political process,” he said.

He concluded by urging the youth to emulate nation-building values by seeking political appointments and elective positions, stressing that active participation is necessary to shape policies and influence governance for the betterment of society.

Highlights of the event was the cutting of birthday cake and presentation of gifts by various ward leaders of the organisation.
