Senator representing Katsina Central, Abdulaziz Musa Yar’Adua, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Barinada Mpigi, describing him as a bridge-builder, nationalist, and dedicated public servant.

Mpigi died on Wednesday at the age of 64 after a prolonged illness, according to family sources.
In a statement issued to journalists yesterday in Abuja, Yar’Adua said he was saddened by the news of Mpigi’s death, noting that the late lawmaker embodied the spirit of unity and selfless service throughout his time in the Senate.

“As a colleague in the Senate, I had the privilege of witnessing his tireless efforts to promote unity and progress in our great nation,” he said. “Senator Mpigi was a true nationalist who understood that our diversity is our strength, not our weakness.”

Yar’Adua praised the late senator’s unwavering commitment to the people of Rivers State and Nigeria at large, highlighting his consistent efforts to foster dialogue and cooperation among communities.

He further described Mpigi as a champion of progressive ideas who understood that the role of a legislator is to uplift the country and improve the lives of its citizens.

According to him, Mpigi’s experience, wisdom, and passion will be greatly missed in the 10th Senate.

The Katsina Central lawmaker extended his heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased, the people of Rivers State, and the entire nation, praying that God grant them the strength to bear the loss.
