PICTORIAL: Low Turnout As Voting Begins In Orozo

There was a low turnout of voters in Orozo, Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) in the ongoing Federal Capital Territory (FCT ) area council elections on Saturday.

Although voting commenced on schedule at the Orozo Primary School polling centre, but the turnout remained low as of 9:20 a.m., with most units recording scanty voter presence.

The school, which hosts 10 polling units directly opposite the Federal Technical College, Orozo, had opened for accreditation and voting with electoral officials and security personnel in place as of 8:00 am.

However, the premises were largely occupied by party agents, security operatives and officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), while only a handful of voters were seen across the units.

Although voting had begun in all units visited, the majority remained without queues. In a few units where voters had arrived early, only small lines were observed, with electoral officers attending to accreditation and ballot issuance in an orderly manner.

Security presence was noticeable at the entrance and within the compound, with officers monitoring movement and maintaining order. Party agents were also stationed around the units, observing the process as it unfolded.

INEC officials were seen arranging materials, checking voter registers and guiding the early voters through the process.

There were no immediate reports of disruption or delay at the centre as of the time of filing this report.
