The Kaduna State governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Hon Mohammed Isah Ashiru has said that mistrust among citizens of the state is one of the reasons insecurity has lingered.

This is even as he promised to address the security challenges of the state holistically if elected governor in 2023.

He also promised to partner with Journalists if elected governor in the 2023 election to ensure press freedom, stressing regretting that journalists have no freedom in Kaduna.

He said partnering journalists, whom he repeatedly described as the fourth estate of the realm, has become imperative because they contribute to the development of the state and the nation in general.

The governorship hopeful spoke during an interactive session with reporters at the secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kaduna State council.

Ashiru, who also spoke on policies and infrastructural plans he would put in place if elected, also unveiled a 5-point agenda on his electioneering campaign.

“I will work with journalists as partners in progress if elected governor because as the fourth estate of the realm, they contribute a lot to the development of the state and the country in general,” Ashiru said, pointing that his 5-point agenda includes: Security, Agriculture, Education (science and technology), Health, Youth and Women Empowerment.

On security he said: “mistrust among citizenry led to insecurity in the state. A situation where one part of the state dominated the other will be a thing of the past if we come to power.
