A Bauchi-based charity organisation, Wunti Al-Khair Foundation, has commenced the distribution of 10,000 bags of 25kg rice to less privileged Muslim communities across the 20 local government areas of Bauchi State as part of its 2026 Ramadan feeding programme.
During the flag-off of distribution held at the Bauchi Eid Ground yesterday, the foundation’s legal officer, Umar Abubakar Magaji, said the initiative is aimed at supporting vulnerable individuals and families during the holy month of Ramadan.
“This event marks just one aspect of the distribution exercise. Similar distributions are taking place simultaneously in other communities and locations. We will also visit all local government areas to ensure widespread coverage,” he said.
Magaji explained that special attention is being given to underserved communities and persons with disabilities, noting that beneficiaries were carefully selected through community-based assessments to ensure fairness, transparency and meaningful impact.
According to him, over 2,000 bags of rice were allocated to vulnerable residents in Bauchi local government area alone, considering its large population and high number of identified beneficiaries.
“Bauchi metropolis, being the largest urban centre in the state, received a substantial share of the items. We have also delegated representatives to reach remote areas and identify those most in need,” he added.
Nagaji disclosed that the foundation is also providing daily cooked meals for Iftar (breaking of fast) in some areas.
“At the Eid Ground in Bauchi, where over 500 students are undergoing Qur’anic memorisation training (Dawra), we distribute more than 700 cooked meals daily, including water, dates, fruits, and soft drinks,” he said.
He revealed that the programme, which began on the first day of Ramadan, will run throughout the fasting period, with Toro local government area scheduled as the next stop in the statewide outreach.
