The Bauchi State Bureau for Information, Communication Technology and Digital Economy has commenced the digitalisation and automation of the State Ministry of Lands and Survey to strengthen revenue generation and collection across the state.
Speaking during the presentation of the new operating system in Bauchi, the director-general of the Bureau, Hayatudeen Babamaji, explained that the initiative covers the complete digital transformation of the Ministry of Lands and Survey.
He added that other key Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) including Development Control, Bauchi State Geographic Information System (BAGIS), and Bauchi State Environmental Protection Agency (BASEPA) will also be integrated into a single unified digital platform.
According to Babamaji, the presentation was organised to obtain inputs from stakeholders within the ministry and ensure seamless implementation of a centralised system.
He noted that the digital era demands a transparent and efficient revenue system that benefits both the government and citizens.
He further stated that part of the Bureau’s mandate is to provide digital infrastructure across all MDAs to promote professionalism, accountability and transparency in governance.
For his part, the Bauchi State Commissioner for Lands and Survey, Abdullahi Mohammed, said the primary objective of the digitisation initiative is to enhance revenue generation and collection in the overall interest of the people of Bauchi State.
Abdullahi explained that the reform is designed to establish a standardised and sustainable institution, particularly in the area of land administration and revenue management.
He noted that the project aligns with ‘My Bauchi Project I and II’ programmes of Governor Bala Mohammed.
While acknowledging that the ministry has been generating revenue, the Commissioner stressed the need for a more transparent and digitised system that will also enlighten citizens on the importance of tax compliance.
“These digital platforms will make it easier for residents to pay their taxes and access relevant information about their properties and related processes. On our part, the system will significantly improve revenue generation and collection within the ministry,” Abdullahi said.
